EWT School is a 12-month special education day school for young people ages 10 to 21 who face a variety of emotional, behavioral and educational challenges. The program provides academic, vocational, transitional, recreational, clinical and community-based educational services in a therapeutic and communal environment. 

Many participants in EWT have significant problems with anger, peer relationships, substance abuse, academic performance and self accountability. The program effectively combines a strong educational curriculum with unique service offererings designed to facilitate self responsibility, intellectual growth and improved behavior.

EWT accepts referrals from the youth's home school district within the Springfield-Holyoke metropolitan area.

Services include:

• Academics: State approved academic courses, MCAS prep classes, and adventure based learning.
• Clinical Services: Clinicians utilize a trauma-informed approach and provide a range of support services that include individual and group therapy, family counseling, behavior modification, crisis intervention, and case management.
• Vibrant Music Program: Professional musicians for hands on instructionand inspiration, wide range of instruments and music technologies, and studio space for recording.
• Drivers Education: Reduced cost driver education program through Youth in Progress. A driver’s license is the start to feeling independent and self-reliant.
• Experiential Education: Teachers engage students in direct experiencelearning opportunities such as rock climbing, museum visits, and historical site visits with a focused reflection in order to increase knowledge and develop skills.

Community Connections:

• Partnership with the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative allows students to receive academic credit and support.
• Youth in Progress Drivers Education is offered to both students and localyouth. Youth in Progress combines Drivers Education and communityservice projects. Through the driver’s education program, students become part of the community while feeling safe in a familiar environmentand attaining their independence.
• Community Music Program brings together local residents, budding musicians and youth to celebrate and share their love of music. A partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holyoke Inc, expands the reach of the Community Music Program.
