| June 21, 2012 – The Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps’ Fay A. Rotenberg School celebrated the programs 30 years of serving young women with a luncheon on June 21 at the facility in Westboro. The nearly 100 degree heat did not deter 50 former colleagues and clients, old and new friends, volunteers and board members from coming out to enjoy the day. The day was about celebrating, remembering and re-connecting. The event gave special recognition to Charles “Chuck” W. Johnson, a former program director who passed away. His family accepted a plaque in his memory from Program Director, Mary Harte and Chief Operating Office, Alan Klein. On hand as well were two former clients who spoke about the change they went through while at the School and how they turned their lives around. Both Mary and Assistant Program Director, Tim Considine, beamed with pride to see the transformation the girls have gone through since leaving the program. The year-long celebration continues throughout 2012 with the monthly speaker series. So far, the program has welcomed; "The Probability of Miracles" author, Wendy Wunder, DJ Melissa from Jamin 94.5, Chef Kelli Bernard, Dr. Holly Fabbricotti, from Mendon Animal Clinic, fashion buyers Adrienne and Jen from TJX Companies and singer Vylette. "Justice, dignity, equality – these are words which are often used loosely, with little appreciation of their meaning. I think that their meaning can be distilled into one goal: that every child in this country live as we would want our own children to live."
